Flash and Monoblocks

Electronic flash on the camera can be useful when used in conjunction with other flash devices.

Cameron says: "you probably don't need to know guide numbers in real life".

The higher the guide number the higher the output eg. GN21 is lower output then GN48.

Intensity of flash decreases as subject distance increases. 

Rear curtain Flash Sync triggers flash just prior to the second curtains travel. You can adjust this in settings.

Red Eye
-Caused by reflection off the retina  straight into the camera.
-Can be stopped by using 'preflash' which makes the pupil smaller so the retina wont reflect nearly as much.

Medium format camera's diaphragm is always fully open for all speeds so it will synch with all speeds.
